Sprigging Service
![]()
Description of Service:
All three varieties of hay are planted vegetatively from rhizomes (or underground
stems). The rhizomes are dug from our clean, established fields using mechanical planters.
You can begin sprigging as early as January and complete by late June. If you have
irrigation available, planting as late as September can be successful. Minimum acreage requirements: 10 acres on
Peanuts & 20 acres on bermudagrasses. If your acreage is close to the
requirements, please call. We still may be able to accommodate your job.
Our service does not
include any site or ground preparation. We recommend tilling, harrowing or
bottom-plowing the field several times. It should be clean of any other grasses or
weeds & smooth. If the field formerly had pine trees, all stumps
& limbs must be removed so that our equipment is not damaged.
